The Dangers of Using Febreze

Any inhalation of any chemicals is dangerous. Febreze didn’t indicate all of its ingredients (only 3 were disclosed). Most of the ingredients specified by the Environmental Working Group (EWG) are known to irritate the lungs. Eighty-seven of these chemicals found are listed in order of their toxicity to humans:

• BHT – Known as a neurotoxin, endocrine disruptor, immunotoxicity, non-reproductive organ system toxicity, skin eye and lung irritator
• Acetaldehyde – Known to cause cancer, toxic to reproduction and development, immunotoxin, non-reproductive organ system toxin, skin, eye and lung irritator
• “Fragrance” – One of the three ingredients actually disclosed, it’s a neurotoxin, immunotoxin and allergen
• Propylene Glycol – Causes cancer, allergies, toxic to immune system, accumulates in the system, non-reproductive organ system toxin, is classified with “enhanced skin absorption” and irritates the skin, eye and lung
• 1,3-Dichloro-2-propanol – Carcinogenic (causes cancer)
• Limonene – Synthetic form used is known allergen, immunotoxin and skin, eyes and lung irritator
• Methyl pyrrolidone – Toxin to reproduction and development, allergen and immunotoxin, non-reproductive organ system toxin and skin, eyes and lung irritator
• Alcohol denatured – Also disclosed in the ingredients of Febreze, it’s linked to cancer, developmental/reproductive toxicity, organ system toxicity and skin, eyes and lung irritator
• Butylphenyl methylpropion al – allergen, immunotoxin and and skin, eyes and lung irritator
• Ethyl acetate – linked to developmental/reproductive toxicity, neurotoxicity, organic system toxicity and and skin, eyes and lung irritator
• Geraniol – Synthetic form used linked to allergies, immunotoxicity, organi system toxicity and and skin, eyes and lung irritation
• Linalool – Synthetic form used is known allergen, immunotoxin, and and skin, eyes and lung irritator
• Benzaldehyde – neurotoxin, and skin, eyes and lung irritator
• Diethylene glycol monoethyl ether – non-reproductive organ system toxicity
• Ethylhezanol – developmental and reproductive toxin and skin, eyes and lung irritator
• Hexyl cinnamal – allergen, immunotoxin and skin, eyes and lung irritator
• And way too many more….

Chemical air fresheners, such as Febreze, do not eliminate odor molecules. They cover them up. It gives you the idea that the thing you sprayed on is sanitized due to its scent while you inhale the chemicals at the same time.

 

CUSTOMER COMPLAINTS:

🗣️ “I am allergic to perfume and incense, and this is as bad as either of these — I tried it for 30 minutes, and had a severe allergy attack, with nonstop coughing for an hour. I had to vacate my apartment and leave all the windows open even though it was 59 degrees.”

🗣️ “I have a bad reaction when this is sprayed. Even before I can smell it, I start to feel jittery and nauseous. I am not known to be sensitive to other scents or air fresheners. This is the only product that has ever done this to me, I dont suffer of any allergies or sensitivities, which is why I think it is really strange. My boss also experienced a cough when ever it was sprayed. We had to get rid of it. I also don’t like the smell, it is too strong for me.”

🗣️ “I bought this as the product advertises a “light scent”, and some reviews explain that it does not have a fragrance. This is not true for me, it does. This product is a rebranded “Air Effects”, which still does have an artificial fragrance. While the fragrance does smell nice (and is the only reason why I haven’t given this product 1 star), the scent appears about 3 seconds after a spray, lingers over an hour, and caused me to sneeze heavily and get a headache until the fragrance goes away.”

🗣️ “i sprayed a very tiny bit into the air in my studio, was instantly sick and now have a migraine. this is TOTALLY unacceptable.”
