Kelly Rowland has teamed up with Silk, a non-dairy milk manufacturer, for an ad campaign called #SwapItWithSilk pushing her fans to switch from cow’s milk to dairy-free milk. Beyonce has also been advocating going vegan. This is not just a good thing for adults.
According to a review published in the Journal of the Academy of Nutrition and Dietetics, dairy products and diets with a high glycemic index are the primary causes of acne and hormonal disruption that cause painful menstruation for young women.
Milk and other dairy products are the most common source of saturated fat in the American diet, which can lead to heart disease, type 2 diabetes, and Alzheimer’s disease. Dairy consumption has also been associated with a higher risk of breast, ovarian, and prostate cancers in studies.
Why setup our children to get sick?
Maria Solanki, a local businesswoman, wife, and mom of an 8-year-old daughter has been trying to change this. She attempted to create a vegan charter school. Hear from her why she felt that was so important and the push back she received.
