A fascinating new nationwide cohort study uncovered a surprising benefit of common cholesterol medications like statins: they are associated with significantly reduced risks of all-cause, natural, and suicide mortality in patients with bipolar disorder.
At first glance, it might seem strange that a cardiovascular drug could act as a mood stabilizer and reduce the risk of suicide.
