A: You can browse through the meal plans to see how I eat on a regular basis. I do not consume animal products or animal by-products and most of what I consume daily are raw fruits and vegetables. This helps to keep the gut clean and healthy. I also do not consume too many processed foods and I do not take anti-biotics or any pharmaceutical drugs. These things also affect the intestinal tract, stripping away good, healthy bacteria in the gut and throwing chemicals into our system, which in my opinion is never good for optimal health. However, I do eat out at restaurants from time to time, experience stress, breathe in second-hand smoke while on the streets walking around, and, at times, eat too much fat. All of these are reasons that I would fully detox my colon.
To detox my colon, I would continue to eat like I’m eating now, which is lots of raw fruits and vegetables, cold-pressed organic juices, organic smoothies and alkaline water. I would drink half my body weight in ounces of water.
For 30 days, I would cut back on fats so I would use very sparingly things like avocado, olive oil, nuts, coconut oil and nut butters. These are all healthy fats but they’re still fats nonetheless. Eliminating fat allows for a deeper detox. I would consume activated charcoal (half a teaspoon in a glass of water daily). Activated charcoal is a natural substance made from burned coconut shells. It works like a magnet in that it attaches to poisons, toxins, chemicals, and heavy metals in the body and pulls it out through the colon and out the rectum.
I would add flaxseeds to my salads and smoothies daily. Flaxseeds expand in the colon and sweep toxins and mucus out. Psyllium husk is also good for this. This is where drinking lots of water plays a crucial role because it flushes all the stuff the flaxseeds, psyllium husk and charcoal are pulling out.
Finally, I would also take enzymes or probiotics. I really like PuraLiyf because it is basically both in one. It contains healthy bacteria that helps to improve digestion, strengthen the lining of the gut and restore healthy flora in the body.
