Oral health is probably one of the least talked about topics within the raw vegan world. There was actually a study on the effects of a raw vegan diet on teeth. A total of 118 participants (59 raw vegans and 59 controls) were interviewed about their level of education and oral health habits. Their saliva samples were collected for pH analysis, and their teeth were examined. Then, statistical analysis was performed. The study found that raw vegans had better oral hygiene and tooth decay was basically the same in both groups.
Not everyone is having a comfortable time with their teeth, though.
Six years into Jeannette Donofrio’s raw vegan journey, she went to the dentist’s office, and the dentist was shocked. The dentist told her that she had the teeth of a 75-year-old. That’s how soft they were. Jeannette realized that it must have been her habit of eating dried fruit daily in the quantity in which she was eating them that made her teeth degrade so quickly.
