It was around 3:30 pm. I had gone through a full day of being trained by Kalani. We were both really sleepy and losing focus. I suggested we get up and drink some cold water to refresh ourselves and she decided to drink coffee instead. She had a water bottle but it was still full at this point. This is why this woman, who is 7 years younger than me, is so overweight. We just made a series of different choices.
Kalani is smart, ambitious, driven and a fashionista. It reminded me of what my mom was saying on this episode of the Podcast about people wearing their money on their body as opposed to in their stomach. I could see the effects of that in looking at me and Kalina. Her outfit had me feeling frumpy. I am not the best dressed in the room but at least my health is in good shape. I feel pretty good about that.
My mom and I don’t have an unlimited bank account to spend on whatever. At the same time, income is not fixed. For me, it’s really important for me to budget and see where my money is going. When it comes to food though, there is a special approach that we both take to it.
Listen to this episode and if you need additional resources, pick up a copy of my book, You Can Afford to Be Healthy, to see how I make my healthy lifestyle affordable. As long as you are earning income above the poverty line, this strategy can work for you. I know because I have experienced low income and moderate income and this is how I work it out.
