I don’t watch prices but my family has shared with me that the price of apples has increased by 75% in Orlando. The big bag of organic frozen blueberries at Whole Foods used to cost $8 and are now $10, a 25% increase.
Food prices overall have climbed by 8.8% yearly, while the cost of agricultural chemicals such as fertilizers and pesticides has increased by approximately 50% in the previous year. A lot of those chemicals come from Russia.
Folks are concerned obesity may be on the rise as a result of rising food expenses. According to the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention (CDC), the percentage of the population classified as obese has grown by 11.4%, affecting almost 42% of Americans.
