“Black women are three to four times more likely to die due to pregnancy-related causes than white women and often report experiencing mistreatment during care.” ~ Fast Company
We have a broken healthcare system, which I often refer to as a sick care system but it does not have to be this way. There was a time when black women got the care and support they needed from other black women and had healthy babies. It is still happening now on a small scale. My guest on today’s episode, Ameka Ali, is making this opportunity more accessible by creating an app to connect pregnant women with midwives and doulas to assist them in a healthy pregnancy and childbirth experience.
See what she had to say on the Raw Food Health Empowerment Podcast regarding the difference between a midwife and a doula and how to setup an amazing birth experience for you and your baby at home.
