It may be safe to say that faux meats and cheeses are now pretty much mainstream as Americans are getting more health conscious and consuming more plant-based foods. MarketsandMarkets Research reported that global sales of meat substitutes increased 42 percent since 2010 to an estimated $4 billion annually.
These foods are great transition foods for when you are first starting your vegan journey, but they are not the healthiest foods to stay on long term. Many contain genetically modified soy, too much sodium, fillers – they are processed foods after all so we can’t be that surprised about this.
