You may notice that there are not too many juicing recipes on this site. I am obviously a big advocate of juicing since I do own a juice bar. However, I totally agree with people when they say juicing is very time consuming and expensive. When juicing, you must absolutely use organic ingredients because it is going straight to the blood stream. Then there is the prep and clean-up of the juicer, etc.
I have seen people’s health do a complete 180 on a juicing regimen. My god-father suffering from kidney failure was sentenced to death by his doctors when his wife put him on a daily juice regimen. He has been going strong over 6 years now.
Autumn 2012 my grandmother-in-law (age 84 at the time) was close to death as well, fighting diabetes and a heart condition. The two aforementioned conditions worsened and she was having intestinal issues and liver pain. The pain was so excruciating, she could not eat. The doctors were trying their best but it seemed she was getting worse and worse. The doctors gave up on her and told her family to take her home to die because there was nothing more they could do. She was feeling depressed and ready to leave this life at that point. She had gone through years of sickness, overcoming ovarian and breast cancer and continuously taking medicine for jaundice since she was 35 years old.
November 2012 my husband put her on a juicing regimen (remind you the woman has diabetes). It took only a few days for her skin color to come back and her eyes to brighten. You could physically see life pouring back into her. Now she is juicing on her own regularly and hop, skipping, and jumping to her friends’ houses to socialize. She is a walking breathing testimony of the power of juicing regardless of age and previous diet (doctors told her she should not eat raw fruit because of the gallstone issues she was suffering from, so she was cooking all her fruit for decades). Juicing can bring you from the brink of death.
So, I definitely encourage people who have serious health ailments to juice regularly. I chose to keep juices out of this meal planner site (for the most part) because I want to encourage everyone to get into eating raw in an easy, convenient, affordable way. Smoothies is the first step. Green smoothies was my first step. I hated greens and that is how I managed to get it in. Now I love veggies and all things raw. If you have a serious health ailment, I encourage you to be as raw as you can possibly manage (and know you can do more than you think you can) and juice on a daily basis.
